I launched www.parishwalk.comin 2001 so 2007 was the seventh year of coverage . The previous year there were a record number of hits on the website. in 2007 there were three times as many!

Saturday - 13,377 hits on the homepage by 3,613 different people;

Sunday - 14,629 hits by 3,445 people

Monday - 7,909 hits by 2,430 people

I'm sure that by far the most important reason for the increase in hits was the provision by SPORTident on behalf of Manx Harriers (sponsored by Manx Telecom) of the online results service. There is, however, also a growing realisation of the benefits of using the internet to promote sport.  Murray Lambden
