The Clerical Medical Parish Walk - final information

This page will be updated throughout the week for final reminders and any important announcements.  Please also refer to correspondence from the race organisers, the race programme and the information page.

DO NOT WALK WITH ANOTHER PERSON'S ENTRY

It is strictly fobidden to take over the entry of another person.  Your entry is personal to you and if you cannot take part, although that is unfortunate, you are not permitted to pass on your entry to some other person.  If anyone walks with another person's number then both the entrant and the substitute are likely to be banned from future events.

FRIENDS AND FAMILY TEXTING SERVICE

In 2007 Manx Telecom with their partners SPORTident automated the timing for the Parish Walk and also added an innovative texting service for friends and family.  Manx Telecom are doing this again for 2008 and also adding the facility to check out the race progress online via your PC or mobile phone.

This is free.  All you have to do is follow this link to Update My Entry.  Just enter two mobile phone numbers and we will text them when you reach each parish church giving details of:

Name of Walker

Location Reached

Time at that Location

Everyone who used this service last year thought it was fantastic but you do need to give us your supporters’ two mobile phone numbers and you can do this online until 21:00 on Friday.  If you don’t have access to the internet you can do this at Event Registration but it saves time if you do it beforehand.  Some of you have already provided these numbers when you entered online.

The organisers (thanks to Winston Liu) have introduced new traffic controls for the busy Rushen Church area.  No traffic will be allowed to approach Ballakillowey roundabout from Ballagawne Road, Old School Road or Sloc (except for residents from nearby housing estate). Traffic will not be allowed to stop at church. Traffic coming out of car park will have to divert left and do loop to reach Ballakillowey roundabout via Ballachurry Road. Therefore 90% + of traffic will be turning left at Ballachurry Road up the Sloc. This was previously announced here.
